Nath's Tips: 5 Easy Ways to Reduce Your Dark Circles

Like it or not, it can't be denied that 99% of us have a problem with dark circles. Whatever the cause is, dark circles do scream troubles. Although we can't really get rid of it, there are several ways to reduce its appearance.

Most people believed that the main cause of dark circles is lack of sleep. Yes, it's true but lack of sleep is not the only cause of dark circles, Dark circles could be caused by allergies, asthma, and eczema which lead to itchiness on the area around the eyes making us scratch that area thus resulting in dark circles. Other than that, nasal congestion when you caught flu could cause your arteries around your nose to swell and darken, as a result, darker circles. Another thing that could cause dark circles is genetics. The thinner your skin is, the higher chance of you to have dark circles.
But, the most common causes of dark circles are unhealthy diet, and of course, lack of sleep.

And of course, the easiest way to treat them are to

Get enough sleep
Treat your allergies
Balanced diet
Drink enough water


But to be real, who has time for that? Especially when we're living in the modern era where everything has to be done instantly and in the most efficient ways.
However, worry-less since I have 5 easy ways to reduce your dark circles in less than 30 minutes.

Cucumber Mask

Cucumber has relaxing and refreshing effect on the skin. Besides, cucumber also has skin-lightening effect which is good for your dark circles. It's widely known that cucumber could be used as eye mask since a long time ago.
Simply slice your fresh cucumber and leave it inside the refrigerator for about 30 minutes. Then, place it on the eye area for 10-15 minutes. You can do this twice a day and see the difference after a few weeks!

Raw Potato

Potato has natural whitening effect which is highly effective in reducing your dark circles and the puffiness around the eye area.
There are two ways to use potato as your eye mask. You can either use sliced potato or potato juice. Simply cool the potato and slice it before placing the potato onto your eye area. Another way is to cool the potato and grate it (or you can use food processor) to extract the juice. Soak a cotton ball with the potato juice and place it onto your closed eye. Allow it to sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing it off.

Lemon Juice

We all have known that lemons contain lots of vitamin C which is beneficial for the skin. But do you know that vitamin C has skin-lightening effect? Thanks to its skin-lightening effect, vitamin C could help us to reduce dark circles.
You just have to squeeze the lemon to get the juice out, take a cotton ball to apply fresh lemon juice onto your eye area. Leave it for 10 minutes before rinsing off. Do this once daily for a few weeks.
However, there are some people whose skin is allergic to lemon. Discontinue treatment if it brings burning sensation or irritation.

Tea Bags

The caffeine and antioxidants in tea is effective in reducing your dark circles and puffiness under the eye by shrinking the swollen blood vessels and reducing fluid retention. Besides, tea leaves contain tannin which is able to reduce swelling and discoloration.
Leave the used tea bags inside the refrigerator over the night. Place the tea bags onto your eye area and allow them to sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing it of. You can repeat this once or twice daily.

Frozen Spoon

The last but not least, and probably the easiest way to do is using the frozen spoon.The cooling sensation from the frozen spoon could help reducing the puffiness on the eye are and give refreshing effect.
Let the spoon freeze inside the refrigerator for a night. Hold the spoon and place it on the eye area until the spoon feels warm.
